If you drive a 2025 or 2026 Ford Super Duty with analog gauges, your speedometer needle might be lying to you. Ford is recalling 102,159 trucks because the needles in the analog cluster can stick or swing erratically, according to a safety filing Ford submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on October 6, 2026. This Ford speedometer recall is mostly a Super Duty problem with a low failure rate, but the fix won’t arrive until December, so the next two months are on you.
Quick answer: Ford recall 26C46 (NHTSA 26V653) covers 102,159 trucks: 2025–2026 F-250 through F-600 Super Duty models, 2026 F-150 pickups and one 2026 F-750. Analog speedometer and tachometer needles can stick or read wrong. Dealers will replace the instrument cluster free, with remedy letters expected December 7–11, 2026.
Which trucks are in the Ford speedometer recall?
Nearly 90% of the trucks are Super Duty pickups and chassis cabs. Ford’s Part 573 safety recall report breaks down 91,588 Super Duty units: 43,300 F-250s, 26,354 F-350s, 6,847 F-450s, 12,260 F-550s and 2,827 F-600s, built between December 14, 2024, and April 17, 2026. Another 10,570 F-150s built from August 22, 2025, to May 12, 2026, are included, plus a single F-750.
Only trucks with the analog cluster are affected, and Ford says they weren’t built in VIN order. You can’t guess from your VIN’s last digits whether yours is in, so check it.

What goes wrong with the gauges?
The clusters came from Visteon’s plant in Chihuahua, Mexico. Ford blames supplier process deficiencies and admits in its filing that their exact nature “is still not fully understood.” Visteon’s tool maintenance on January 15, 2026, resolved it, Ford says.
Ford estimates 1% of the trucks have the defect, roughly 1,000 vehicles by our math. As of September 16, 2026, it had logged 18 warranty claims and 93 field reports tied to 79 distinct VINs. Ford says it isn’t aware of any crashes, fires or injuries.
Ford concluded the trucks meet the letter of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 101, which covers controls and displays, but may fall short of its intent. NHTSA’s Office of Vehicle Safety Compliance agreed. That’s why this recall rests on a compliance finding.
How do you know if your Ford truck is affected?
Run your 17-digit VIN on the NHTSA recall page for 26V653. NHTSA says affected VINs became searchable on October 7, 2026. You can also call Ford at 1-866-436-7332 and quote recall 26C46, or ask a Ford or Lincoln dealer to look the truck up in Ford’s OASIS system.
Ford’s filing names one warning sign. If your cluster also shows a digital speed readout, the two numbers may not match. When they disagree, trust the digital figure or a phone GPS speed app until the cluster is replaced. A stuck tachometer matters too if you tow, because you lose your read on engine speed on a long grade.
When will Ford fix the speedometer, and can you keep driving?
Not yet. Interim owner letters go out October 26–30, 2026, and remedy letters follow December 7–11, when parts are expected. Dealers will swap the instrument cluster module at no charge, and Ford says the replacement part has been validated for proper operation.
NHTSA’s record carries no park-it or park-outside advisory, so Ford isn’t telling you to stop driving. If you run a fleet of F-550 or F-600 chassis cabs, brief your drivers now. A loaded work truck moving faster than its needle shows is the exact risk this recall exists to prevent.

Run the VIN before you sign. An open recall here isn’t a reason to walk away from a good truck, but book the cluster swap early once remedy letters land in December.
This isn’t Ford’s first cluster recall on these trucks. In August 2025, Ford recalled more than 355,000 F-150 and Super Duty trucks because the digital cluster could go blank at startup, a software fix, CBT News reported on October 20, 2026. This time the cure is new hardware. CBT News also cited NHTSA data showing Ford had issued 78 recalls covering nearly 14.1 million vehicles in 2026 as of late September.
If you’d rather wait for a 2027 truck, Ford has already dropped the base engines on the 2027 Super Duty, added a 35-inch tire option for the base XL and launched a Carhartt edition of the Super Duty XLT.

The recall covers 102,159 trucks with analog gauge clusters: 2025–2026 F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550 and F-600 Super Duty models, 2026 F-150 pickups built August 22, 2025, to May 12, 2026, and one 2026 F-750. Ford’s recall number is 26C46, and NHTSA’s campaign number is 26V653.
How do I check if my Ford truck is under recall?
Enter your 17-digit VIN at NHTSA.gov/recalls, which has listed affected VINs since October 7, 2026. You can also call Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or ask any Ford or Lincoln dealer to look up your truck. These trucks weren’t built in VIN order, so check each one individually.
Is it safe to drive a Ford truck with a recalled speedometer?
Ford hasn’t issued a do-not-drive warning, and it says it knows of no crashes or injuries linked to this fault. Still, a stuck needle can hide your real speed. If your cluster has a digital speed readout, compare it with the needle, and use a GPS speed app until the dealer replaces the cluster.
The Ford speedometer recall comes down to one figure: 1%. Most of these 102,159 trucks will never show a fault, but the ones that do give no warning beyond a mismatch on the dash, and replacement clusters aren’t due until December. Check your VIN this week.
