Ford Expedition 2025 vs 2026: Prices, Trims and What Changed

Sports Car One Staff

November 2, 2026

The 2026 Expedition costs you about $1,000 more than a Ford Expedition 2025 on three of its four trims, and most of that is a bigger destination charge, not new hardware. Ford also took the wireless charging pad out of every 2026 trim. Our view: if you can find a 2025 on a lot, it’s the better buy, unless you want the 2026’s new Marsh Gray paint or a slightly higher tow rating on 24-inch wheels.

Quick answer: The 2026 Ford Expedition starts at $64,995 with a $2,595 destination charge, against $63,995 for a 2025 with $1,995 destination. The engine, 9,600-pound max towing and 24-inch dash screen carry over. For 2026, Ford dropped the wireless charger and gave the base Active Select a manual steering column.

Ford Expedition 2025 vs 2026 prices: how much more is the 2026?

The 2025 model launched the fifth-generation Expedition, so the 2026 is a second-year carryover. Here’s what each standard-length trim cost with destination. The 2025 figures reflect Ford’s February 2025 bump of $300 on the Active, reported by Ford Authority from a dealer bulletin, and the 2026 figures come from Cars.com’s price list of January 22, 2026.

Strip out destination and the story changes. The 2026 Active’s base price rose $400 to $62,400, the Tremor rose $370 and the King Ranch rose $405. The Platinum actually fell $480, to $73,950. The $600 jump in Ford’s delivery fee did most of the work, and you can’t negotiate it away.

The long-wheelbase Expedition Max still adds $3,000 on the Active, Platinum and King Ranch in both years. The Tremor stays standard-length only. One caution: iSeeCars now lists a $2,795 destination charge on 2026 models, so check the window sticker, because Ford has adjusted pricing during this model year.

What changed on the 2026 Expedition?

Ford’s own What’s New list for the 2026 Expedition, posted August 27, 2025, is mostly paint, wheels and package shuffles. The additions worth knowing: a new Marsh Gray color, an optional black-painted roof on Platinum and King Ranch, Open On Approach for the split gate on Active Touring and above, and optional rear-seat entertainment on Tremor, Platinum and King Ranch.

The losses matter more if you’re buying the cheaper trims. Ford Authority’s change log shows the wireless charging pad, standard on the 2025 Active Touring, Tremor, Platinum and King Ranch, isn’t offered on any 2026. The Active Select (200A) now gets a manual tilt and telescoping steering column instead of the power one, plus front head restraints that only move up and down.

Two more details catch Active Touring (202A) buyers. The Panoramic Vista Roof was standard on the 2025 Touring and is optional on the 2026. And the Co-Pilot360 Active 2.0 hardware now needs a BlueCruise plan, either one year plus 90 days or a one-time purchase, before it’s active.

Did the engine, towing or MPG change?

Not in any way you’ll feel. Both years use the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 400 hp and 480 lb-ft on regular fuel. The high-output version makes 440 hp and 510 lb-ft, it’s standard on the Tremor and optional on Platinum, and Ford’s 2026 spec sheet calls for 91-octane premium with it. Cars.com points out that the King Ranch can’t get the high-output engine at all.

Towing tops out at 9,600 pounds for a standard-length 4×4 in both years, according to Ford’s 2026 Expedition towing guide. One small gain: a 4×4 on 24-inch wheels now tows 9,200 pounds, up from 9,000 in the 2025 guide. The Tremor stays at 9,300, and the Max 4×4 stays at 9,000.

Here’s the buyer trap. The cheapest $64,995 Active is rear-wheel drive, and Ford rates it to tow just 6,000 pounds because it runs a 3.31 axle. The 9,600-pound figure needs 4WD, a $3,000 option on the Active, which brings the 3.73 axle and the heavy-duty trailer tow gear. If you’re shopping for a 7,500-pound camper, the real starting price is about $68,000.

Fuel economy is unchanged. The EPA rates the 2025 Expedition at 19 mpg combined with RWD and 18 with 4WD, and puts annual fuel cost at $3,400 and $3,550. With the standard body’s 23.6-gallon tank, that’s roughly 425 miles on a full tank at the 4WD rating.

Is the Ford big SUV still good value against the Tahoe and Sequoia?

Yes, on power and towing. The Expedition’s base price per horsepower beats the Chevy Tahoe, and it out-tows both rivals on paper. Destination conventions differ by brand, so we’ve used each automaker’s listed base price before options.

Full-size SUVBase pricePowerPrice per hpMax towing
2026 Ford Expedition Active$62,400400 hp$1569,600 lb
2027 Chevrolet Tahoe LS$60,700355 hp$1718,400 lb
2026 Toyota Sequoia SR5$65,725437 hp$1509,500 lb

The Sequoia’s hybrid V6 wins on fuel, with Toyota quoting up to 22 mpg combined. The Tahoe’s 122.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space is its strongest card. The Expedition sits between them on price, and its split tailgate is the practical extra: Ford Authority reported the lower half holds up to 500 pounds.

Should you buy a 2025 or a 2026 Expedition?

Buy the 2025 if a dealer still has one. You keep the wireless charger on Active Touring and up, the power steering column on Active Select, and a leftover from the previous model year gives you room to ask for a discount. Run the VIN through NHTSA’s recall lookup first: Consumer Reports lists six recalls on the 2025.

Buy the 2026 if you want Marsh Gray paint, the black roof or rear-seat screens, or if you plan to tow near 9,000 pounds on 24-inch wheels. And look ahead before you sign: Ford.com already shows the 2027 Expedition, and CarGurus reports it adds a 30th Anniversary package. If you also tow with a pickup, our look at the 2027 Ford Super Duty engine changes covers Ford’s heavier option.

Ford Expedition 2025 and 2026 questions buyers ask

What is the difference between the 2025 and 2026 Ford Expedition?

Very little mechanically. The 2026 keeps the same 400-hp and 440-hp EcoBoost V6 engines and 9,600-pound towing. Ford added Marsh Gray paint, a black roof option and rear-seat entertainment, but dropped the wireless charging pad and gave the base Active Select a manual steering column and two-way head restraints.

How much does a 2025 Ford Expedition cost?

After Ford’s February 2025 price change, the 2025 Expedition Active started at $62,000 before the $1,995 destination charge, or $63,995 delivered. The Platinum was $76,425, the Tremor $83,025 and the King Ranch $85,650 with destination. The longer Expedition Max cost $3,000 more on the trims that offer it.

How much can a 2025 Ford Expedition tow?

A properly equipped standard-length 2025 Expedition 4×4 tows up to 9,600 pounds with a weight-distributing hitch, according to Ford’s towing guide. The Tremor is rated at 9,300 pounds and the Max 4×4 at 9,000. Rear-wheel-drive models drop to 6,000 pounds because they use a numerically lower 3.31 axle ratio.

The Ford Expedition 2025 and 2026 drive and tow the same, so the deciding number is small: on a 2026 Active you pay $1,000 more delivered than for a 2025, and $600 of that extra is just Ford’s destination fee.
