Nissan will put the 2027 Pathfinder in showrooms this November at $39,990, below the 2026 Honda Pilot and Toyota Grand Highlander. Nissan announced the 2027 Nissan Pathfinder price on Oct. 19, 2026, along with a 40th-anniversary Special Edition. The anniversary model will get the attention. The base SV is the better buy for most families.
Quick answer: The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder starts at $39,990 for the SV with front-wheel drive, plus $1,575 destination. The new Special Edition costs $47,390 with FWD or $49,390 with 4WD, and the top Platinum 4WD reaches $51,890. Every version uses a 284-hp 3.5-liter V6 and a nine-speed automatic. Sales begin in November.

2027 Nissan Pathfinder price by trim
These are the MSRPs from Nissan’s official 2027 Pathfinder pricing release:
- Pathfinder SV FWD: $39,990
- Pathfinder SV 4WD: $41,990
- Pathfinder SL FWD: $42,790
- Pathfinder SL 4WD: $44,790
- Pathfinder Rock Creek 4WD: $45,390
- Pathfinder Special Edition FWD: $47,390
- Pathfinder Special Edition 4WD: $49,390
- Pathfinder Platinum FWD: $49,890
- Pathfinder Platinum 4WD: $51,890
Destination adds $1,575 to every trim. Moving from FWD to 4WD costs $2,000 on the SV, SL, Special Edition and Platinum. The off-road Rock Creek comes only with 4WD.
What does the 40th-anniversary Special Edition add?
The Special Edition copies the burgundy cloth seats of the 1987 original with two-tone black and burgundy TailorFit upholstery. Red accents carry outside too. Even the PATHFINDER lettering on the liftgate is red. Marco Fioravanti, Nissan’s vice president of product planning, said the Pathfinder has “challenged preconceptions of SUVs for 40 years.”

The hardware is practical: black 20-inch wheels, a panoramic moonroof, second-row captain’s chairs, rear door sunshades, a 12-speaker Bose system and a tow hitch receiver. At $49,390 with 4WD, it sits $4,600 above the SL 4WD and $2,500 below the Platinum 4WD. Nissan’s release doesn’t say which of those items the SL offers as options, so we can’t price each feature on its own until the full order guide is public.
One trade-off is easy to miss. The Pathfinder seats eight as standard and seven with captain’s chairs, so picking the Special Edition drops you to seven seats. If you carpool a full team, that matters more than the burgundy trim.
Can the Pathfinder really tow 6,000 pounds?
Yes, with a condition people miss at the dealership. The standard rating is 3,500 pounds. Nissan’s footnotes say the 6,000-pound figure applies to SV and higher trims fitted with the optional tow hitch receiver. The Special Edition includes that hitch, which is part of what its premium buys.
So check the window sticker for the hitch as well as the trim badge. A base SV without it tops out at 3,500 pounds, and if your trailer weighs more, the hitch stops being optional. The factory receiver is the hardware Nissan certifies for the heavier load, and towing capacity still varies by configuration.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 rated at 284 hp and 259 lb-ft, paired with a nine-speed automatic on every trim. Nissan’s release lists no other powertrain. Cargo space measures 16.6 cubic feet behind the third row and 80.5 cubic feet with both rear rows folded.
How does the Pathfinder compare with the Honda Pilot and Grand Highlander?
Honda’s Pilot page lists the 2026 Pilot Sport from $42,395, with a 285-hp V6 and a 5,000-pound max tow rating. Toyota’s Grand Highlander page lists the 2026 model from $42,260, with 271 hp from its base engine and up to 5,000 pounds of towing.
That puts the Pathfinder SV FWD $2,405 under the Pilot and $2,270 under the Grand Highlander on base price. With the hitch fitted, it out-tows both by 1,000 pounds. Horsepower is a wash with the Pilot, 284 against 285. If the Honda is on your list, our report on the 2026 Honda Pilot refresh covers what changed.
Two caveats apply. Those rival prices are for 2026 models still listed on Honda’s and Toyota’s websites, and 2027 pricing could shift. Destination charges also differ by brand, so compare out-the-door quotes rather than MSRP.
Who else should be on your three-row list?
Shoppers stretching toward luxury can look at the electric 2027 Lexus TZ three-row SUV. If you want V8 power, the 2026 Dodge Durango R/T and Hellcat are the muscle option. For the same trim-premium question in a smaller SUV, see whether the 2027 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk’s $7,500 upgrade holds up.
The Pathfinder is assembled in Smyrna, Tennessee, and holds a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating. Prices here are Nissan’s MSRPs as of Oct. 19, 2026, exclude taxes and dealer fees, and could change before deliveries start.
The 2027 Nissan Pathfinder price makes its strongest case at the bottom of the range: $39,990 for a V6 three-row SUV that can be rated to tow 6,000 pounds once the hitch is added.
