The 2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid price starts at $39,090, which is only $400 more than a gas Sorento EX with front-wheel drive. Kia confirmed the numbers on October 15, 2026, and added a new X-Line EX trim that costs just $100 more than its gas twin. Our view: for most families, the hybrid is now the Sorento to buy, and the plug-in is the one to skip.
Quick answer: The 2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid costs $39,090 for the EX FWD, $40,890 for the EX AWD, $43,090 for the new X-Line EX AWD and $47,590 for the X-Line SX-Prestige AWD. Add Kia’s $1,495 destination fee. Every version uses a 232-hp turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid system with three rows of seats.
2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid price by trim
Kia’s October 15 pricing release lists four trims. All prices below exclude the $1,495 destination charge, so a loaded X-Line SX-Prestige lands at $49,085 before tax and dealer fees.
- Sorento Hybrid EX FWD: $39,090
- Sorento Hybrid EX AWD: $40,890
- Sorento Hybrid X-Line EX AWD: $43,090 (new for 2027)
- Sorento Hybrid X-Line SX-Prestige AWD: $47,590
The new X-Line EX brings gloss-black wheels and gloss-black exterior trim on top of the EX’s equipment, plus machined wood inlays on the dash and doors. The SX-Prestige keeps its panoramic sunroof, Bose audio and second-row captain’s chairs, and now gets a head-up display as standard.

How much more is the hybrid than the gas Sorento?
Barely anything. We lined up Kia’s hybrid prices against the 2027 gas Sorento pricing Kia published on October 1, trim for trim. The gaps are tiny.
- EX FWD: gas $38,690, hybrid $39,090, a $400 gap
- EX AWD: gas $40,190, hybrid $40,890, a $700 gap
- X-Line EX: gas $42,990, hybrid $43,090, a $100 gap
- X-Line SX-Prestige: gas $46,990, hybrid $47,590, a $600 gap
That $100 X-Line gap is the headline. One caution: trims with the same name don’t always carry identical equipment across powertrains, so check the window sticker line by line before you assume a perfect match.
How fast does the hybrid pay for itself?
Fast. Kia’s hybrid spec sheet estimates 37 mpg combined for the EX FWD. Its gas spec sheet estimates 26 mpg combined for the non-turbo 2.5-liter with front-wheel drive. That’s the mechanism: the hybrid’s electric motor handles low-speed pulling, so the engine skips its least efficient work in stop-and-go traffic.
Run the numbers at 12,000 miles a year. A 26-mpg gas Sorento burns about 462 gallons and the hybrid about 324, a saving of roughly 137 gallons. At an assumed $3 per gallon, that’s about $410 a year, which covers the $400 premium in roughly 12 months. These are Kia’s estimates, not our test results, and your real mileage will move with climate, tire choice and driving style.
The hybrid also makes more power. Kia rates the system at 232 hp and 270 lb-ft, against 186 hp and 178 lb-ft for the non-turbo gas 2.5-liter. Picking the X-Line AWD trims costs some efficiency: Kia’s estimate drops to 34 mpg combined.

Should you pay up for the Sorento plug-in hybrid instead?
For most buyers, no. Kia’s October 19 PHEV release cuts the plug-in to a single X-Line SX-Prestige AWD trim at $53,890. That’s $6,300 more than the hybrid X-Line SX-Prestige. We covered that move in our 2027 Kia Sorento PHEV price breakdown.
The plug-in only pays off if you can charge at home and most of your driving is short. If you park on the street or live in an apartment without a charger, the $6,300 buys you weight you’ll rarely use.
Two things to check before you buy
Towing is the first trap. Kia’s 2027 hybrid spec sheet lists only an unbraked towing figure of 1,654 pounds. If you plan to pull a small camper or a boat on a braked trailer, get the braked rating confirmed in writing by the dealer before you sign, because the published sheet doesn’t show it.
Drive type is the second. The base EX is the only hybrid you can get with front-wheel drive, and it’s the efficiency champion. Step up to AWD and the price rises $1,800. That’s money well spent in Minnesota and less so in Phoenix. Prices may also change during the model year, and dealers set the final number.
