Mazda didn’t touch the number that matters most. The 2027 Mazda CX-5 price starts at $29,990 for the 2.5 S, the same as the base 2026 model, and every CX-5 still comes with all-wheel drive. Mazda announced the figures on October 26, 2026, and says cars reach dealers in the coming months.
The base car is the headline, but the $32,140 Select is the one we’d buy. All four trims above the base model got pricier.
Quick answer: The 2027 Mazda CX-5 starts at $29,990 before a $1,595 destination fee, or $31,585 delivered. Prices climb to $39,440 for the Premium Plus. All five trims use a 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder with standard AWD. Google built-in with the Gemini assistant is now standard, and a hybrid hasn’t been priced.
What’s the 2027 Mazda CX-5 price for each trim?
Mazda’s 2027 CX-5 pricing release lists five trims. Compared with Mazda’s January 13, 2026, price sheet for the 2026 model, here’s where each one landed:
- 2.5 S: $29,990 (no change)
- 2.5 S Select: $32,140 (up $150)
- 2.5 S Preferred: $34,550 (up $300)
- 2.5 S Premium: $37,450 (up $550)
- 2.5 S Premium Plus: $39,440 (up $550)
Add $1,595 for destination and handling ($1,640 in Alaska) to every trim. Five of the six paint colors cost $595, and Navy Blue Mica is the only no-cost shade. So a Soul Red base CX-5 is really a $32,180 car before tax.
Mazda’s restraint stands out this fall. Chevrolet raised the price of the 2026 Chevy Trailblazer again, to $25,395, while Subaru went the other way and cut the 2027 Subaru Outback price to $32,995 with a new base trim.
Is the Select trim worth $2,150 more?
For most people, yes. The base 2.5 S already has a 12.9-inch touchscreen, an eight-speaker stereo, dual-zone automatic climate control and Mazda’s full driver-assist suite, including radar cruise control and blind-spot monitoring. What it lacks are things you touch every day: keyless entry, wireless phone charging, rear-seat air vents and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Select adds all of those, plus privacy glass, heated power-folding mirrors, a frameless auto-dimming mirror, lighted vanity mirrors and leatherette seats with microsuede inserts. Spread the $2,150 across those nine upgrades and you’re paying about $240 apiece.
One conflict: MotorTrend’s October 26 report says only the Premium Plus gets wireless smartphone mirroring, but Mazda’s release lists it on the Select. We’re going with Mazda. Check the window sticker before you sign.
Which trim makes sense in snow country?
The $34,550 Preferred is the trim for cold-state buyers. It brings heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a windshield wiper de-icer, a power liftgate and a full-color head-up display, along with 19-inch wheels and roof rails. That’s $2,410 over the Select.
One catch: those 19-inch wheels mean pricier winter tires than the base car’s 17s. If you run a dedicated snow set, price both sizes first.
The $37,450 Premium adds leather, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof and Bose audio. The $39,440 Premium Plus adds a 15.6-inch screen, paddle shifters, a 360-degree camera and automatic lane changes. That’s $9,450 over the base car, which is hard to justify.
How does the CX-5 compare with the RAV4 and CR-V?
On sticker price, the CX-5 undercuts both of its biggest rivals. Honda’s 2027 CR-V configurator lists the LX at $31,520, and Toyota priced the 2026 RAV4 from $31,900 when it announced the redesign in October 2025. Both figures are base MSRP before each brand’s destination fee.
That RAV4 number buys a front-drive hybrid. The CX-5 gives you all-wheel drive for $1,910 less, while the Toyota counters with hybrid power the Mazda doesn’t offer yet. Families who need a third row might look instead at the 2027 Kia Sorento Hybrid, priced just $400 above the gas model.
The CX-5’s limitation is the drivetrain. There’s one engine, a 2.5-liter four with 187 hp and 186 lb-ft through a six-speed automatic, and it runs on regular 87-octane. Mazda says “additional powertrain options will be announced in 2027.” City commuters may want to wait for it.
What’s new for 2027 besides the price?
Google built-in is standard across the line, with Google Maps and the Gemini AI assistant replacing the Google Assistant that early 2026 cars launched with. You speak to it in normal sentences, which helps when you want a route change at 70 mph.
Software is our main reservation. MotorTrend’s long-term 2026 CX-5 has suffered screen blackouts and an SOS button that beeps after startup, the magazine reported on October 26, 2026. Nobody has tested whether the 2027 software is more stable. Prices here are Mazda’s announced MSRPs, and dealers set actual sale prices.
Where your money goes furthest
The 2027 Mazda CX-5 price makes the base car a $31,585 all-wheel-drive bargain. Spend the extra $2,150 on the Select anyway. At $32,140, it costs just $240 more than a front-drive 2026 RAV4 Hybrid.
2027 Mazda CX-5 questions buyers are asking
How much is the 2027 Mazda CX-5?
The 2027 Mazda CX-5 starts at $29,990 for the 2.5 S and tops out at $39,440 for the Premium Plus. Mazda charges $1,595 for destination and handling on every trim, so the cheapest CX-5 costs $31,585 before tax. Five of the six paint colors add $595, and dealers set the actual transaction price.
Is there a 2027 Mazda CX-5 hybrid?
Not yet. Every 2027 CX-5 uses a 187-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Mazda’s October 26, 2026, release says additional powertrain options will be announced in 2027, but the company hasn’t confirmed a hybrid, a turbocharged engine or pricing for either one.
What’s new on the 2027 Mazda CX-5?
The main change is standard Google built-in with Google Maps and the Gemini AI assistant, which replaces the Google Assistant on early 2026 models. The base price stays at $29,990, while the Select, Preferred, Premium and Premium Plus rise between $150 and $550. The 187-hp engine carries over from the redesigned 2026 model.
