Chevrolet is giving almost every 2027 Silverado 1500 a second exhaust outlet, and it’s the cheapest-looking upgrade in the whole redesign. The 2027 Chevy Silverado exhaust updates leave only the $41,395 Work Truck with a single side-exit pipe. The paint list changes too, and the best new color is quietly tied to trims that cost $10,800 more than a Custom.
Quick answer: The 2027 Silverado 1500 gets standard dual exhaust outlets on the Custom and every trim above it, according to Chevrolet’s June 16, 2026 reveal. The Work Truck keeps a single side exit. The paint chart grows to 10 colors, with Apex Red, Pacific Blue Metallic and Trillium Green Metallic new for 2027.

What are the 2027 Chevy Silverado exhaust updates?
Chevrolet’s wording in its 2027 Silverado 1500 press release is short: “standard dual exhaust on Custom and above for a more refined appearance.” That covers the Custom, the Silverado trim (the old LT), Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2.
On the 2026 truck, GM Authority’s August 1, 2026 breakdown of the order guide shows the Custom came only with a single side exit, and every 2.7L TurboMax truck got one pipe.

Two tips, one muffler
Here’s the part shoppers misread. Chevrolet is talking about outlets, not a true dual exhaust system. GM Authority notes the current Silverado 1500 uses a single muffler regardless of how many tips poke out the back, and Chevrolet hasn’t said that hardware changes for 2027.
So the Custom’s new tips won’t make the truck louder or faster. You’re paying for a look. Official photos of the High Country and ZR2 show quad tips, but Chevrolet hasn’t confirmed which trims get two tips and which get four. Check the build sheet before you assume.
Which engines sit behind the new tips?
Chevrolet lists four engines for 2027. The 2.7L TurboMax makes 350 hp and 455 lb-ft. The 3.0L Duramax diesel makes 305 hp and 495 lb-ft. Two new V8s replace the 5.3L and 6.2L: the 5.7L L76 at 402 hp and 428 lb-ft, and the L78 at 481 hp and 501 lb-ft.
One naming conflict to flag. GM Authority’s paint story calls the L78 a 6.7L, while Chevrolet’s release calls it a 6.6L. We go with the automaker. If you’re coming out of an older truck, our Silverado engine problem years guide and the GM 6.2L V8 recall explainer cover what the outgoing V8s left behind. Diesel shoppers should read our 3.0 Duramax reliability breakdown first.
2027 Silverado paint code availability by trim
Chevrolet dropped Cypress Gray (GBD) and Radiant Red Tintcoat (GNT) and added three colors. GM Authority’s 2027 Silverado paint chart, last updated October 12, 2026, lists codes, costs and trims:
| Color (code) | Cost | Where you can get it |
|---|---|---|
| Apex Red (GAS), new | $0 | Every trim |
| Black (GBA) | $0 | Every trim |
| Sterling Gray Metallic (GXD) | $0 | Every trim |
| Summit White (GAZ) | $0 | Every trim except High Country |
| White Sands (G42) | $0 | Every trim except High Country |
| Riptide Blue Metallic (GJV) | $395 | Work Truck, Custom, Silverado |
| Trillium Green Metallic (GTM), new | $395 | Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, ZR2, High Country |
| Pacific Blue Metallic (G4M), new | $395 | High Country only |
| Polar White Tricoat (G4J) | $995 | High Country only |
| Red Hot (G7C) | $0 | Fleet or government orders only |
Red Hot is the trap. Retail buyers who loved it on a 2026 truck can’t order it anymore. Apex Red is now the no-cost red for everyone else.
What does the color you want actually cost?
The option price is the small number. The trim gate is the big one. Using Chevrolet’s prices with the $2,795 destination charge, a Custom is $46,395 and the cheapest Trillium Green truck, the Custom Trail Boss, is $57,195. That’s $11,195 more for green once you add the $395 paint.
Pacific Blue is steeper. It lives only on the $74,495 High Country, $28,100 above a Custom before the $395 option. If you just want a colored truck on a budget, Apex Red and Riptide Blue are the two that don’t push you up the trim ladder.

When can you order one, and what could change?
Chevrolet’s release says the 2027 Silverado 1500 goes on sale at the end of 2026. Paint availability can shift mid-year when GM updates its order guide, so treat the table as the launch picture.

Yes, on most trims. Chevrolet says the 2027 Silverado 1500 has standard dual exhaust on Custom and above, which covers Custom, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2. The Work Truck keeps a single side exit. The change refers to outlets, and Chevrolet hasn’t said the single muffler changes.

There are 10 colors: Apex Red, Black, Sterling Gray Metallic, Summit White, White Sands, Riptide Blue Metallic, Trillium Green Metallic, Pacific Blue Metallic, Polar White Tricoat and Red Hot. Red Hot is limited to fleet and government orders, and Polar White Tricoat is a $995 High Country option.
When does the 2027 Silverado come out?
Chevrolet says the redesigned 2027 Silverado 1500 goes on sale at the end of 2026. Pricing starts at $41,395 for the Work Truck and runs to $79,995 for the ZR2, with the $2,795 destination charge included. Exact dealer arrival dates will vary by region and trim.
The Custom is the sweet spot
Check our pickup fuel economy rankings before you pick an engine. Of all the 2027 Chevy Silverado exhaust updates, the one that matters most is the Custom getting dual outlets at $46,395, which means the cheapest truck with the full rear-end look now costs just $5,000 more than the Work Truck.
